Hi, I am learning as I go here on a new nav 5. Today I wanted to use the unit and was greeted with "map data not available".

The unit shows my bike on a map with no roads, Rivers, railway line etc. but no roads.

Today I paired a blue tooth device. About 1 week ago I down loaded a few gpx files from ride magazine for a tour in Spain. I can see the files and when requested the unit shows me the route on a map and that appears to have no roads.

So what have I done to cause this and how do I get my map data back.

I have checked the unit and Garmin express says maps up to date.

Your assistance will be gratefully appreciated.

go to the settings and scroll down to look at the map info, check that the maps are ticked.

Hi John,

Did that every thing was as it should be.

I have my map data back now but only after I did an map reinstall. I did a forum search and came across similar problems so that guided me down this route, and it worked.

It seems my naivety with this system has caused me the problem. Unfortunately I don't remember what action I took that caused the loss of the data. But at least I know how to put it right.

Thanks all. The thread is now closed.

Steve
