I've just updated both my Nav IV and Basecamp to CN Europe 2015.2 via Garmin Express. The whole process took about an hour after I'd put a 32 GB micro SD card into the unit and went very smoothly. Whatever happened to the days of 4 hour downloads....? :nenau

I previously had an 8 GB card in the unit with CN USA maps on it and took that out to use the larger card to give me more room for further upgrades and extra maps. I'd like to move the USA maps from the 8 GB card to the 32 GB in the Nav IV. So far, I've dragged the folders on the 8 GB card onto the desktop of my Macbook. Is it really as simple as dragging them from the desktop into the 32 GB card in the unit or am I missing something?

When I installed the new maps, Garmin Express warned that the card would need to remain in the unit as it would have essential files without which the unit wouldn't work. So I'm taking it that I will need to copy the folders onto the 32 GB card rather than just swap cards when I want to use the unit in the US.

Anyone done this....?

I have done this with my Zumo 550. And have had the same message about keeping the card in the unit for it to work.

Not a 100% sure, but I believe it's only the maps that are on the card.

When the unit is working properly, remove the 32gb card and replace it with your 8gb card.................. You'll soon find out if it's only mapping on the card.

Good luck.

Good luck with your endeavours.
I was always of the understanding the maps were executable program files and, as such, couldn't be directly click-and-copied elsewhere.
In the past, I've used JaVaWaGMTK to copy Garmin map programs, but not sure if it's still relevant.

If you have paid for the US maps from garmin can you just download them again onto the card you have put in the unit ?
I was under the impression that once purchased they were yours and available time after time
