just tried cable ties on my old cambridge luggage map holder
it fits really well ..it is easy to get the ignition key in and out
there isno movement or flapping about even at three figure speeds at all!.. although admittedley i have a wider screen fitted ...
no fouling or rubbing of the tank easy access to the petol filler no interference with sterring lock all instruments and warning lights visible .. and as a plus the glasses ?phone case is really handy
just cable tie to the handlebars and then take another tie and
thread it through the one on the handlebars tie to the brake
banjo bolts they cant be seen unless you look from undernieth

the handguards trap the front end to give it stability
i put it on and didnt rate its chances but i really does work
...rock solid 670 mile round trip .. no problems
if like me this has been a problem i hope this helps

Thats nice. Im still searching for a solution so may experiment with something like that. It was rubbed paint that was my main concern. I have found you can jam a map securely between the clocks and that silver bar as an interim solution :D

Floating tank bags/map holders

I browsed my way to a tank bag range that depended on a fitting that replaced the tank filler surround and then suspended the bag above the paintwork. The whole thing was hinged to allow easy refuel, but they'd yet to design a bag for teh rake of the 1200 tank.

Can't recall who made them now, but they looked a clever bit of kit.
