Anyone had a problem downloading this ? 45.87MB download and Garmin servers seem dog slow tonight. The download keeps hanging @ 16MB (have tried 4 times tonight on my pc, my laptop and asked a mate to try it (just to rule out my ISP) and it is unbelievably slow, have I said it's slow? :D

I tried the other night, it was very slow, gave up and tried the next morning, much better download speed :thumb

The file downloaded for me but I got an error when it tried to install: "Winzip self extractor error" which suggests the download file itself is corrupted.

I got the download OK (but slowly).

The program runs OK under an Administrator user but won't under a restricted user saying 'Mapsource denied access to registry'.

Anyone else had this?

Some sites suggest that changing the registry settings fixes it but I haven't had any luck yet?

Just to save others the bother here's what has changed:

1. This version of MapSource no longer supports Windows 98, Windows ME, and Windows NT.
2. Fixed an issue with transferring map sets larger than 2 GB to units. MapSource supports transferring map sets up to 4 GB in size. Note that some units do not support map sets over 2 GB in size.
3. Fixed an issue with creating a waypoint from Japanese address search result.
4. Fixed an issue with MapSource not finding Google Earth Pro when installed.

So for me, it was not worth updating. Of course YMMV.

cheers

I couldn't get the automatic download to work from within mapsource - same winzip error message as everyone else. I downloaded it successfully from the Garmin website though.

This has been discussed previously and the following should resolve your problems:

PROBLEM: The update from within Mapsource begins to download 6.11.6 but then the Winzip self extractor has a problem

Resolve the issue by doing a manual download from http://www.garmin.com/support/mappingsw.jsp
this seems to work perfectly...

Wish the hell you'd posted this yesterday! It would have saved me a whole evening of swearing at the laptop. Got it eventually and now find it's a waste.
