I discovered something odd yesterday. I was plotting a route from the French side of the Alps to go into Italy to a national park south of Aoste. The route southwards took me through the Mont Blanc tunnel yet when I inverted it the route took me on a long way round that avoided the tunnel. Even when I clicked and dragged the route to the tunnel it only took me as far as the waypoint then turned around and took me the long way round again. Does anybody else have this problem? and what is the cause of it? It seems as if the mapping believes the tunnel to be one way only.

I am on Mapsource 6.11.1 and City Navigator Europe v8.

Is there a chance you've put the waypoint on the wrong lane? :nenau

Can you attach the file?

No, thought that might be the problem so I zoomed right in, the mapping only shows a single lane.

going underground

Is that the 205 on the french side, if so then I have no probs inverting this route to go either way through the tunnel.

Yep Kenny, the N205 in France and E25 on the Italian side. So why the feck won't mine do the same? :nenau

Ok I think I have resolved this.

I had routing preferences set to avoid Toll Roads, I took this off and the routing tool immediately selected the tunnel to go from Italy to France. However, I thought the tunnel was tolled both ways? :nenau if so then why did the routing tool select the tunnel to go from France to Italy.

Can anybody confirm that the tunnel is tolled both ways?
