Mapsource on a Mac - Working finally.

Yes, I know it's a bit of propaganda again, but....

The latest beta of Parallels Desktop for Intel Macs now detects garmin legacy usb devices properly. You'll need a current license or a trial key, and the 3170 build of parallels to get it to work.

I can now safely retire the old xp laptop at work from it's mapsource duties, and live a windows free life :) at home. Still up to my elbows in the kernel at work though.

Actually, I'll wait a week or two before trying to reburn firmware on the quest just to see if anyone on their support forum toasts theirs, but usb transfer seems to be working pretty well.

Slight caveat.

I had a few XP Panics (bluescreens) in USB driver code when sending maps to the unit. Went away when i let XP have 500mb to play in rather than 384.

On a 1GB mac you'll need to stop all your other stuff in the dock while xp is active, or it'll be paging horribly.
