I've got lots of routes and waypoints loaded up in my Nav III for a big East Europe trip. I've also got a gdb file with campsites around the route culled from the file on the HUBB.

Is there any way I can download the campsite file to a location on the Nav III so i can open it when I want to, but not have to fight my way through 100's of way points when I don't?

Thanks John. In >My Data there's an option for custom POI's which are loaded using the POI loader. Or, under favourites, I can select by category. Either would do, I think.

So - can I turn the Mapsource file of campsite waypoints into a POI database file I can load using the POI loader.

Or, is there a way of mass-editing the campsites to give make them all category "campsite"?

Well, I looked on the site which was very helpful - and downloaded the speed camera database while I was there.

There are 2 ways to do this;

1) get all the way points in a mapsource file, highlight them all and select a category (you can set categories in edit>preferences>waypoint categories tab), and even give them the same icon.

2) Send to device

3) Look on the device in find>my locations>favourites - and the new category will be there

method 2

1) get them in a file, as above. categorise them if needed
2) Save the file as a .gpx file into a folder called POI loader or similar
3) Point the garmin POI loader at this file and download.

the waypoints (now custom POI's) appear in find>extras>custom poi's by category.

Note that if you do this it wipes any previous POI's, so you must put all the POI's you want to load in POI loader folder you created above.

The first method has limited capacity, about 500 waypoints ISTR. The POI Loader method is in practice unlimited.
