Mapsource wont find by address??

Hi all.
for some reason my (V.10) mapsource wont find any location by address
I can put the number, street, town, city etc in but it always comes up with "no items found". I have tried various addresses and also variations of the details I put in but always the same result. I have even added the post code and it still gives the same result. Flip to the post code search and just use that it finds it straight away.
Any ideas?

The rule of thumb is to use the minimum information needed to find the place you're looking for.

So house number and postcode is the best especially if you're a NT user.

Then house number and street name.

Then house number, street name and city, and hopefully you get the idea.

The problem with too much information is that if you think you want to find 25 Upper Lower street, Somewhere, Anycounty, AA1 2BB then the following are possible problem points:

"Upper Lower street" is shown in Mapsource as "Upperlower street" or "Upperlower st" or "Upper Lower St".

"Somewhere" is shown as "Some where". Etc etc, all of which will show as "no item found".

Give us the name of the place you can't find. Don't give us the street number for "security" reasons.

Hi Guys.
it doesnt seem to matter how much input I use same results.
I cant get it to find any address??

Here is a house I lived in 26 years ago.
73 Fulwell Road, Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, SR6 9QP.

If I try any combination of address inc post code it will not find.
Stick the postcode in post code search and it comes straight up and even gives me the full correct address??

just tried that and got several results for 73 Fulwell Road, Sunderland.

bit of a false start when i typed fullwell with 2 Ls, but otherwise works ok.

Just tried that, also no problems.
You are talking about Mapsource on the computer and not City Navigator 2008 on the GPS, aren't you?

Hey Colin, I had the same problem after loading the new maps. Have you disabled the older maps in the unit? When I did that I couldn't search for any thing either. Re-enable the old V9 maps as well as the new ones and see if that sorts out the problem.

Hi all,
yes mapsource on computer and unit is brand new so came fresh with V.10.
Think I might just try to reinstall and see what happens - prob bugger the whole thing up
on second thoughts might just leave it - was only playing about in any event
