I finally got around to fitting mine this morning. A 20 minute job, including boiling a kettle.
If anyone is thinking of losing the pillion footrests and buying one, read on:
For the exhaust bolt it's T45
For the footrest hanger bolts, it's T40
For the new new hanger's bolts (as supplied by Mark) it's H6
For the nearside blanking bolts (as supplied by Mark) it's H5
I used decent quality long shafted Torx and Hex drivers. The bolts can be fairly tight, so take care if you use shonky short drivers that you bought as they was cheap, mate. One slip and you'll cut your hand or gash your awesome steed.
To get the rubber ant-vibe bung out, I used a stubby broad blade screwdriver. Just be careful and patient, you'll find one side rises up and then you can push it through
To get the rubber bung into the Cymarc hanger, Mark used his wife's KY jelly. As she didn't leave it at Wapping Towers last time she stayed, I dropped the bung into a cup of freshly boiled water, leaving it just long enough to take the nearside footrest hanger off. It slid in a treat, as Mrs Hooton says.
A nicely made product.
PS These days I am generally keener at taking weight off motorcycles rather than adding to it; though this does fly counter to the bikermate bling ethic, I know. If anyone is even remotely interested, the weight saving through the removal of the footsrests and the fitting of the hanger is just over one kilo. Think of the pies that will represent!
