I would be appreciative of some help if possible...
I'm currently on the look out to purchase (as a first time owner) a 1200 adventure.

Does anyone happen to know the current trade and/or private value of a low mileage a 2010 DOHC 1200GSA With Dynamic and Premium packs? (No Luggage)

Thanks! :thumb2

Go through the trade and private ads, take an average that's the advertised value.
Whaterever you manage to buy it for is the value to you.
Keep looking and searching you'll soon get a feel for what the average price is.
Then decide what the maximum is that you are prepared to pay for the bike you want,if you pay less then it's a bonus.
Sorry to sound a bit vague, but it's not a science and people value things in different ways.

happy hunting,

Steve

Are dealer mark ups generally £1000 - £1500 more than private?
or can that be a bit unpredictable too?

As already said there's no set price as depends on so many factors. Ocassionally if you're very lucky you will find someone who's desperate to sell due to needing some fast cash and so can get a bargain.
Dealers obviously will always mark up their bikes, and their profit margins will depend on how much they paid for the bike in the first place.
I prefer to pay the extra and buy from the dealer as in theory you have more peace of mind. I'm not confident enough to be able to assess a bike properly in order to buy private, plus you'll get little or no warranty.

Around £11250 they have a yellow one in at Southport Superbikes with Dynamic and Premium packs around 9K miles on the clock supplied by them with FSH

Best regards Stretch :)

georgeboi,
expect to pay around £12k for a dohc gsa.
my annie was more than that but its new.
in my opinion i wouldnt worry where abouts in the uk it is, just get the best you can.
there is one on motorcyclenews in dorset i think, yellow with panniers and dynamic and premium for £11400.
sounds a bargain

Thanks lads,

I have noticed prices seem to vary wildly... anywhere from 10 - 13k
full specced with luggage. At this point, I'm possibly considering saving
myself 2 grand and going for a 2009 with after market pipe.

Even the other years prices seem to vary significantly too, so I suppose
the lesson learned is there really is not an average rule of thumb here.

There is a lot more to the 2010 DOCH Engine apart from the Pipe....:)

Yeah I understand that, but from what I have read it's debatable whether
it's worth an extra 2k - unfortunately I have only test ridden the 2010
DOHC version, so can't compare to pre twin cam models.

I guess it boils down to can I live without the extra 500RPM slightly
pokier low - mid range and extended service intervals, in spite of
saving a spare bit of money on farkles.

Cheers

Thanks for all the links.

I came very close to purchasing a 2010 advertised a couple of days
ago, just about to go to bank to draw out the cash and find out
it had HPI outstanding and the seller wanted money cleared
in his account first so he could then clear the finance. Was not
comfortable at all with that so withdrew.

2 split amount cheques, one to seller and one to the finance company - you send the one to the finance co yourself, stapled to the seller's settlement letter

The you're safe:thumb
