Marrakech Express: He who laughs last, laughs longest

CHOO CHOO

If perchance I also made a comment which caused offence, then with all sincerity TOUGH!:D

Tim,

I'm not sure why you are reacting like this as it surprises me of you also. You have never struck me as the overly sensitive type

If we all took offence at the ribbing on here there'd be no one left (well me and a few other like-thick skinned clowns :D ) on the board.

I certainly would not risk going out off road on my bike again in case I fell off :D and you have taken part in that ribbing of me!

It's a laugh - enjoy.

Erm, it might have been me!

:(

And if it is, I too am sorry.

But as Fanum rightly points out, there is an undercurrent of gentle piss taking on this board that is not in anyway maliciously meant.

Just look at the number of times, for example, that someone publishes a picture of something that they are rightly proud of, only to find that the respondents quickly point out that the wall needs pointing or the weeds need killing or there's a pile of dog shite on their drive - in so doing deliberately ignoring the actual achievement.

When I wrote "I like to see a trip well organised ..., I also knew that I was setting myself up for a huge piss-take if the slightest thing goes wrong with Tossers-on-Tour.

And finally, don't forget that motomartin started on the Fosters several hours before we in the UK do!

:beerjug:

Fosters !!!

no way - nor 4x anything and everything but!

but you're right - LOOSEN UP man

have a laugh , have a smile - take the piss back

after a days work , come here to take the piss and have it taken .

if you can't handle it, sit in the corner and we won't speak to you.
What's the point in that ?

as Bakes said - good trip , cool etc.

get over yerself.

There's a lot of beating around the bush going on here...

It's wrong to judge the new breed of adventure riders by old standards.

Why should a man with a desire for adventure have to go down the full Ted Simons route to revitalise his manhood.

There are many that have undertaking great adventures that come no where near Ted's yet we view them as great accomplishments.

As we move along the scale lesser adventures like crossing a Michelin map a day to reach the Sahara in 3 days are worthy of respect but are a million miles from what Ted did.

And today should it be a few die hards that should determine if an adventure contained a 'cissy' a 'big cissy' element?

My thoughts to this question are: Today a man in crises can gain respect from the thousands that saw Ewan and Charley through the purchase of a GS, some tin cases and a rally suit.

The problem comes when the man who gained recognition from the uneducated (those that have only seen the long way round) feels unfullfield and then seeks the respect from those a little harder and wiser

As GBS once said those that can do, those that cannot get the ferry to Bilbao and those that find that to hard get the motorail...And those that cannot even face the motorail work in McDonalds!

So we should look on the bright side you may not be the next Ted Simon but gain pride from the fact that your one step away from a numb nut!

PS: W@nkers my middle name

This is my first time reading this post; I read this post because I wondered what the fuss was about. Now that I've now read all the posts. I don't think anyone intended to really run you down or upset you; it seems to be light-hearted banter, more than malice against you.

Maybe Bakerman overstepped the mark very slightly. By overstepping the mark I mean, like treating you like a friend in a pub. He may have been over familiar, with his comments, I am assuming he does not know you in the real world.

At the end of the day from what I have read people or are making fun of the situation rather than the persons involved. If this had happened to anybody else, I would have expected the same amount of joviality if not more.

This forum, thankfully does not take itself too seriously, yet does not let people away with blue murder. The moderators do a good job of keeping a check on crudeness and rudeness that may offend other members. If this place was just facts and figures that would be very dull, you would not see half the people visiting the forum half as often.

Take it from me as I am impartial, well, in respect to this post anyway. You have taken offence, when none was meant, just good natured ribbing.

Most people get a ribbing for mistakes and accidental situations that happen to them, putting diesel in a petrol tank, driving off and taking the petrol pump nozzle with you, forgetting your sleeping bag or packing your kids bag instead of yours, dropping the bike when at a virtual standstill, bad spelling (bakerman) all stuff like that. Take it as a compliment,at least they are not ignoring your exploits.:D
