Hi, any one had any dealings with Marshall at Grimsby as I saw a 1250 gs for sale by them via auto trader advert , I enquired on line to weather the bike was a used approved with two years warranty & roadside assistance
The reply was only one year warranty & no road side assistance .
On their website it just says used bikes will have a minimum of 90 day warranty, I just thought it strange that a used bmw being sold by a bmw MOTORRAD dealer costing north of £11,000 would come with the full used approved warranty.🤔

If the bike doesn’t meet the criteria to qualify as an approved used bike it can’t be sold as one.

Is he inclined to call them and have a chat. The full details will then, probably, much clearer.

I’ve had no dealings with that particular dealer though.

To qualify for the BMW Approved Used scheme (2 year warranty) the bike must have a complete and unbroken service history. Guessing the bike you've seen does not have said history

My dealings with MArshalls were pretty good TBH but that was a few years ago now

I just assumed that if the bikes are not up to BMW’s standards they would be put out to trade .🙄

with fewer newer bikes being sold, so fewer low mileage PCP returns, maybe they have to maximise their income from lower quality part ex bikes, especially as Superbike Factory's major competitor, Completely Motorcycles went bust so I imagine trade prices are a bit depressed.

Marshall Motorrad are in Laceby near Grimsby. They do operate a two tier set up re used bike warranty. The sales team are spot on, I have had in excess of 10 BMW’s through them and when its was Astle Bmw before Marshall.
Like already mentioned, Bikes with a full Bmw service history are sold with a full 2 years warranty and road side assistance. Other bikes not in that criteria are offered with a limited warranty I’m afraid, if you are interested in a used bike I suggest finding out what’s covered!
I have had several issues with the after sales team re warranty work, but have always managed to get things sorted one way or another. Good luck with your purchase🙏🏻 They have great bunch of lads in the workshop.

Had excellent service from them and I know the bike you are talking about as my mate wants it!

The reason its not approved used is because its a trade in bike and one of the services was not done by a BMW dealer so they can't offer the BMW approved warranty but they can offer their own 1 year warranty

Get it bought before my mate does

Don’t you like your mate? :friday

Jess in service is excellent but my experiences with the sales team over many years has been dreadful.

I got a 90 day return to base warranty with the wing, woop woop

The bmw got 2 years and eucover,

In reality 1 year, (thanks COVID) and boy did I make use of it !!

If you’ve only bought one motorcycle from a dealership over a number of years, how can you say the sales team are shit?
Genuine question…..

If that's a question for me I can offer a very simple explanation. Despite numerous attempts to buy motorcycles from them they've reneged on deals, refused to confirm agreed deals in an e-mail, refused to respond to phone calls, ignored me on numerous visits, despite my bike being in there for a service and on one occasion refused to answer a simple question about a bike I was interested in, responding with 'No, I'm busy!'. He wasn't on the phone to anyone, there was no-one else in the showroom and there was no customer at his desk.

If it wasn't a question for me I apologise.

Not, not necessarily you, Clive. 🫶 But good to hear of an experience, and thank you for your feedback. 👍
Did you go elsewhere and negotiate to buy?
I suppose the sales team might have a job distinguishing between tyre kickers at a service visit, and those who really do want to buy? I don’t know TBH. 👍
If it had been me being treated like that, I’d have escalated to the dealer principle or higher for a response.
Then perhaps walked into another dealership.

I now have zero time for shit dealers.

Any crap service and I just walk.

There are plenty of good places out there.

I’ve had 5 bikes from a small place in Lincoln and 4 from a small place in York.

Both of these places are courteous, professional, and keep in touch well.

The last time I got an RT from a main dealer the service was atrocious. Not ready. Crap comms. Piss poor attitude.

In this day and age there is simply no excuse for not emailing , what’s apping etc etc.

Dealers who do shit service - win shit prizes.
