Had a Sunday free as Julie doing daughters wedding related stuff and work. Mmmmm, another bike trip . Sent messages out to folk who had expressed an interest all but Redrick were busy . So we hatched a plot to meet up at 8.30am Junc 36 A1 in a local dogging layby.
Feck its cold this morning 2.5 deg C left home at 7.50am
Meet Redrick and after introductions we set off, making good time as little traffic en route. Our plan ,ride up to Masham and have Breakfast and a warm up in The Border House Café. I knew that the B road from junc 50 was closed so plotted a route on backlanes
Frosty with black ice patches. I`m thinking Redrick (Rick) must think I`m a right twat.
We carefully piloted our way to the café a beacon of warmth. Oh and a top bacon and tomato sarni one of the best . Our plan ,take our time and chat and let the Sun thaw things out a bit. It nearly worked , off we scoot
Anywhere in the shade as we approach water loads of black ice, anything black and wet in photos was icy, eh that were fun.

Uphill a little slip here and there , downhill , well excitement all the way.
We get over to Pately Bridge then head for Kettlewell , en route over much faster but every now and then big patches of ice crossing the road, we stop to do a little cottaging in Kettlewell

Once we had pointed Percy at the porcelain, we suit up and ride up Cam Gill Road good dry start and hardly any ice.

Up on the Top its fresh scattering of snow on the hills but the light quality is excellent.

These two guys stop for a chat and advise us that the bottom end is sheet ice and not safe.
.
So we nine point turn and return to Kettlewell, Decided to go to Starbotten, Hubberholme and try over the top through Outershawe to Gayle and Hawes.

We stop above Gayle after careful ride up.

HERE`s REDRICK

and 1 last photo as me feckin fingers are cold

The descent to Gayle is gritted, phew that could have proved difficult.
Warm up stop and toasty in Hawes, then sadly time for home so we hoon it back to A1 stopped for fuel and part company.
Great ride Rick most enjoyable if at times scary.
