03 1150Gs is now 8 weeks and 4,000 miles old and the gel battery is f****d!!!
General opinion at the dealers is that it wasn't PDI'd properly as the gel batteries require a SLOW 24 hour charge to fully activate.
New battery is to be fitted this week so we'll see how it does.
Also rear Bridgestone (yuk) is u.s. after this milage also so Tourances are going back on
Build quality of this GS over my 01 model is definately poorer

Read your post with interest. My 2000 GS has just shed its original battery which was pretty dead when it was changed over at the dealers' yesterday. They mentioned the "new gel batteries" as being better than the "originals", although I don't have a new gel battery this time either.

Build quality - hmmm, that's interesting also as I'd say my 2000 is good quality except for the fork braces which are blistering.
