MCN group test going on @ mo

For some strange reason I don't think the Triumph or Kawasaki even look the part.....just me perhaps.
Who wants to be the test riding guinea pigs for triumph.....?

Can't say I'm fussed where the GS comes, I had the Tiger 1050 and swapped it in for my GSA and have not regretted it for one second :thumb2

Surely you don't pay any attention to any of the divvle those useless w%nkers at MCN write?

You're quite correct it's a f*ucking rag and a waste of your hard earned cash.
Remember all the sh*t from a couple of years ago about a couple of undercover journos signing on as Marshalls at the TT and there was this exclusive about lack of training / improper running of the event. I think they were run out of the Island.........now the bast*rds say wow, what a great event. How they change their colours to suit.
And they also sponsor / run what must be the worst event of the calendar, the Scottish Motorcycle Show - great if you want some dodgy tools.
And it seemed to shrink in size in the off season but somehow remained the same price. Read in 5 mins and tossed in the bin thereafter - not sure if it's the same these days.
I've no idea even the cover price of it these days, probably the same price as 4 andrex.
Once a rag always a rag....

Bad day at work but now feel a bit better :)

I bought it last week for the first time in ages just for the new GS article. I stopped buying it along time ago as it had gone downhill big time, and it's now much worse

Got to agree, media hype, fear mongering bunch of basts. I understand thay have to try and help the companies to sell the latest and greatest but some of the road tests are just shite! Three I tend to agree with over the years were:
GSXR1000K6 'can it still hold its own in 2011?' (it can definately)
Honda SP2/Prilla/Ducati
Triumph Street Triple Vs any old naked shite that came along in the last 3 yrs

They were subjective and well written, most of it is just shite....
Remember when the crossplane R1 emerged? It was heralded as the best bike ever........until the next year when it came 2nd last! Against basically the same bunch of bikes!

Every week its 'speeder gets jail' or 'fight for our rights to strap nitrous to our bikes' :blagblah The only area I pay attention to is the sport, and even that view is biased:confused:

Anyhow I have a feeling the GS will come out on top, Versys 2nd and the Tiger 3rd.

I still buy it just for a weekly laugh, how the f@ck can you compare a triumph 1050,and a versy 1000 to an adventure bike? both are pure roadbikes the gs isnt, granted most of them never see dirt but its a different class bike so why do those cock journos still run these tests with completely different class bikes?they did a comparison a while back with dualsports and used a 990 SMT instead of a 990Adventure,then said well the SMT is'nt much good off road!!!!!no shit sherlock.....and theres me thinking i could hit north Africa on a SMT damn....

I bought the Crimbo & last weeks GS edition. Wafer thin, feck all in it!
How can they demand 2 quid for such a poxy rag?
20 years ago it was well respected in the biking world, full of advertisers, there used to be 10 pages each for dispatch riders and breakers alone.
They used to do some great offers with Oxford Products until Oxford had a problem with one of their products & MCN turned on 'em like a rabied dog, just to sell column inches. Their idea of a "Free Gift" now is a pull out supplement that is just part of the paper.

Well at least the GS they are testing is a Triple Black so it should win by a country mile :D:D

it is desperate fair top ten boots top ten gloves top ten bikes under 5k blah blah blah, but trying to find a positive i do enjoy kevin ash pages. the freebie mcm from bike shops is far better

Errr, I guess because bods like you buy two editions? Just a guess mind.

Plenty of bods on UKGSer moan that the mags pander to the advertisers. You want more?

There are a fraction of the couriers employed, email having made their role all but redundant. Those that are left are either Brazilian, Polish or darkies from the sub-continent couriering pizza, none of whom have any interest in the English written word.

As to breakers? Most of them are thinly disguised bike thieves. The scum of the earth, as portrayed within these hallowed halls. Most will not be buying advertising space.

MCN, I`ve been taking it for over 35 years now, tried to give it up on more than one occasion, bit like smoking - gets to about 10.30 on a Wednesday morning and I start to get the shakes and break out into a cold sweat - I need my Wednesday motorcycling fix, so it`s down to the newsagents hand over my hard earned £1.99 and the shakes abait, the sweats dry out - sorted.......only to find that when I open the pages its still the same old shite, week in, week out - ah well I`ll give up next week.
Surely there must be some sort of patch I can use..........! :nenau

It's all well and good MCN testing new bikes, I'd like to see them compare these same machines in four or five years time when they're well out of warranty.

My experience of three Triumph's and two BM's, all over four years old, leaves the BMW's well in front. Just wait and see how the suspension and overall finish compare at that stage.

It's like everything else that journo's test for all sorts of publications, most things will perform well, be waterproof, look good etc. when they're straight out of the box.

It is 2 quid old boy! :comfort

My point being that way back when it was the best way of keeping up to date with news, racing, spares, jobs etc :blagblah
With new technology, poor old MCN has been left behind somewhat, but instead of raising the bar with full gloss photos & boundry breaking journalism, they torture us with 10 reasons to ride through winter & equally riveting dross.

I will continue to buy the odd copy for old time's sake!
