Anybody going on the MCN ride to reclaim North Wales on the 19 Sept.
It was in the MCN mag this week.

2nd at Dragons rest cafe, Caerwys, junct 31 A55. (CH8 8RF)
Make your own way to the Swallow Falls Hotel. Holyhead Road, Betws-y-Coed
Conway, LL24 0DW
Meeting there at 4pm.

It has the backing of The British Motor Cyclist Federation. (BMF)
and the Motor Cycle Action Group. (MAG)

Lets support them and our right to ride.

NO...................forgive me my synoecism but is not MCN amongst other publications that actively encourage anti-social riding, loud exchausts etc.
While I in no way agree with the North Wales police tactics, MCN can`t have it both ways.
Not only that but it`ll go like all the other MCN "campaigns" - last a few weeks while it sells copies and then they`ll move onto something else.

i think the MCN is ****, i have to agree with the above.

but if people want to get out and go for a ride into Wales with other why not:)
but The paper is not fit to put fish and chips on,,, too many lies in that paper for my liking:mad:

going by past experience
you may find that MAG and the BMF do the hard work of getting the thing up and running and more crap than news jump on the bandwagon just long enough to claim the credit.
if i could be there i would.
i love riding in Wales. :thumb2

12 of us going from the wirral,i like a good protest.

As a bit of a cynic don't believe everything you read in the "comics" They are there to sell papers and are in the pocket of manufactures who supply them with new bikes and goodies to sing their praises. I write with experience of such matters having previously done 24 hrs testing for certain mags and then find out your copy has someone else s name on it and pictures taken out of a library, I know this is true as me and the Mrs appeared in numerous magazines two years after doing an event and got no cash out of it because EMP "owned the copy. The first time you slag off a bike big time then the door is slammed in your face and it is very difficult to get back into the rat pack, no one wants to know you, ask Roger Willis who edited Bike in the 1980's nice guy but was to near the truth for some, side ways move now doing a bit for the BMF. Would I go no way its nothing more than a cheap publicity stunt that N Wales police will ignore because of the advanced publicity. When challenged will answer who where what when, not on our patch as our evidence will show!

Rant over :pullface

I am still going as I support the cause and not going on behalf of the MCN which a lot of people are getting confused with. I was given the paper as I do not buy it and found the article so I posted it.
I like riding in Wales as it is on my doorstep, if other bikers go with illegal what so ever, they deserve what they get. Dont see why I should be stoped for having a legal bike and all legal documents.
Once again, goin for my own reasons, and that is a good ride out with like minded people.
Would be glad to join you Wideparting. :thumb2

So what will happen - the MCN 'organise' a ride into North Wales - North Wales police set up road blocks in strategic places on the roads into North Wales (the routes being 'published' in the MCN) - loads of bikers get stopped, have their bikes checked & penalties issued where appropriate.

Looks to me as if MCN are doing the hard work & North Wales police reaping the benefits.

But don't let that stop you - it'll keep the police busy in the border area & keep the welsh roads free for those who live here

What I don't get with this "lets reclaim the roads" protest is, if your bike is legal and you ride sensibly, there isn't a problem. The problem comes because a tiny minority are hell bent on killing themselves or some poor unfortunate who happens to be in the vicinity.

When I ride in North Wales I take it easy and enjoy the ride.....simples :thumb

Although I think bikers should stand up for their right to ride and not to be targeted, I fear this will only give the police more ammunition as there are bound to be some feckwits there who will squeel like girls when they get ticketed for their loud cans, small plates etc etc

I've been in North Wales 3 times in as many weeks. All over. Llangollen, Betws-y-coed, Anglesey, Abersoch and so on. Didn't get stopped once. I got a wave and a smile from a bike cop who had stopped a car. Am I missing something :nenau What do I need to reclaim? I stuck to the limit, had a standard plate and a stock exhaust. I enjoyed the scenery, had some good food and took some photos.

What I did note was how tribal the sports bike riders were. Hardly any nodded back. There was a correlation between the amount of power ranger gear they were wearing and how friendly they were. The more of a power ranger they were the less likely they were to nod back. :(

Might be something to do with that new lid you've got...:augie

havent had a chance to scare them with that yet...
