Doing some work on my newly acquired R80G/S which was previously owned by a mechanic (his words).
I admit to be lulled into a false sense of security by "mechanic ownership" and forgot to be my usual cynical self.
Because someone has trained as a mechanic doesn't make them a good mechanic, or careful, or thorough, or clever etc etc
I won't bore you with the details but some of the stuff I have encountered so far is ordinary to say the least
I am not trained just an enthusiastic amateur but I have 2 important skills: I try to do my best and I recognise the limitations of my skill/experience. Sometimes you've just got to pay.
This rant is to remind everyone not to get sucked in by ambit claims and assess what you are buying based on what you see, not what you are told.
The G/S is not a piece of junk and will eventually become a nice bike. I am getting satisfaction from righting some of the wrongs -although he did say he rebuilt the motor
