Has anyone else experienced this problem? Ive just bought my 2nd replacement lefthand rear indicator as the exhaust fumes melt it regularly. My local BMW shop cannot see what the reason is and nor can I. The exhaust is straight in line with the indicator and there is no adjustment to move it. It has a Y piece with standard silencer fitted. Before fitting the Y piece it was completely standard and still did it. Any suggestions are welcome.

Indicators

Just had a look at mine bog standard Adv, the exhaust on mine does not point directly at the indicator, the outlet points below the indicator stalk. Never had a problem with the idicator melting. I'd go back to your dealer and check the exhaust is mounted correctly.:(

Your not alone, both my GS12 have melted the near side rear indicator and number plate. I run a full remus revolution exhaust system. The fix is to fashion a metal plate behind the number plate and then buy the deflector extention that remus keep quiet about costs £25.00 got mine from J&S.

This should stop the melting but you may need to lengthen the extention if your very heavy on the throttle like me.

Had a similar problem but with the pannier frame and box getting hot and burnt. Have Y and standard can. Got this done and works perfectly and looks ok. If you want it back to standard just get a cheap EBay exhaust, unbolt the end cap and fit it on yours. I got an accident scraped can for £10 :)

Ted, That looks a really good job you have done there. I presume you have had it chromed as well?

Ted,

Next time make sure your tyres a clean before taking shots of your bike.

Falling standards:nono

That's special insulating straw, stops the rubber getting to worn and the shine rubbing off the tread :P

Will get the hose out and clean and re coil it. Think I will start a " show us your hose" thread, allthough knowing you lot may end up being Pulled :eek by the moderator:D

The pipe is stainless and the end cap is also stainless just with a black coating (paint) as standard. Zorstec just polished the whole lot when they had finnished:thumb
