Memories

That reminds me:

27th Bristol Classic Motorcycle show
Saturday 10th/Sunday 11th February 2007- The Bristol Royal Bath and West Showground

Yes - I intend to go.

A day trip from Edinburgh goes like this:

Leave home 03:00
Arrive Bath & West Showground 10:30
Meet up with my Cousin & his wife, do the show.
Leave for home 15:30
Stop for meals en route
Arrive home 22:45
Total mileage just over 900.

That's why I have a K1200GT ! :thumb

FTK 328 - Where are you now ? I had to sell it in March 1973 when I moved from Somerset to a top flat in Edinburgh.

Ahhh ...FTK 328. Thats the one I bought in 1973 and turned it into wot-u see below.
The back pistons seized shortly after I got it so I put on the superior cast iron 2 port head and barrels.
Whilst I had it to bits, I altered it to the 'style of the day'
Hope you are pleased with the result.

I bet it sounded great on open pipes !

So where is it now ?

Pity you didn't keep the chromed engine plates & tool boxes I so lovingly prepared.

Or the chromed rear hub, spokes and chain guards.

And the 'Triumph 3' oil cooler would have looked the part too.

Interesting conversion . . . As Abraham Lincoln once said "Those that like this sort of thing will find this the sort of thing they like".

Bugger ... a tounge in cheek reply. Wasnt expecting that.
What do I do now!

It did sound great on open pipes though. Another mate had the alloy engined one. 4 open pipes on that one !
When they were both out together it sounded like an air raid.
Unfortunately, the bikes were completely standard when they got them. All the bits just got flung out, along with the rare extended oil tank which was shaped a bit like a gun handle if I remember rightly.

The MK III & MK IV had the one gallon oil tank that filled the space occupied on the earlier bikes by the six-pint tank and the tool box. The later bikes had the tool box on the nearside. I had both tool boxes and the 6-pint tank. The oil cooler increased the oil capacity by about a pint.

I used to carry a tow rope in one of the boxes and was forever towing my mates' old nails when they broke down on runs !

They used to refer to the 'square' as "That ploughing engine" - they couldn't live with it on runs though !
