At home, my main PC is an Evesham laptop which, in general terms, is very good.

At work, I mostly use an IBM Thinkpad which is excellent. It's memory has recently been upgraded from 256mb to 1.256gb - and it now goes like a train.

I want to do the same for my Evesham PC at home so the basic question, not answered by the crappy documentation that came with the machine, is how do I find out the type of memory, slot capacity and which of the many flaps to open on the underside of the machine? The handbook says "consult your dealer". I've done this before on a desktop PC.

It runs with 512mb at the moment so upgrading to 1gb or even 2gb would probably make a huge difference.

Cheers

You can always go to the Crucial or Kingston sites where they have a 'wizard' that will tell you what you need.

As I recall, you don't even have to provide a model number as their sites will 'interrogate' your PC to establish what's what.

Most laptops run with SODIMM memory card things.
