I've just received a replacement 550 from Garmin after my old one failed after 3 years.

Problem I'm having is that when I try to replace some lost routes I get an error stating there is not enough memory to calculate.

I contacted Garmin who said the normal procedure was to delete all the non-English language and text files which I have done but no change.

If anyone has a few minutes spare can you see if your 550 has the same problem?

Start of route is Le Havre ferry port
End of route is Relleu, Alicante, Spain.

It's about 1000 miles with settings for NO Toll roads and Fastest route.
Using City Nav 2010

TIA

Never really a good idea to have a route that long as one. Better to break it down into smaller bites, a day, or even half day, at a time (or were you planning on doing 1000 miles in one day  ). This allows the unit to calculate/recalculate the route much quicker.

If your old unit could handle such a route with ease (it should be able to admittedly) and you new one can't then I don't know what to suggest. After all, my lowly StreetPilot 2720 sat here on my desk can do Hereford to Relleu, albeit with a significant bit of calculation time.

Usually do Le Havre to Pau on the first day and finish off on the second.

We have a 2610 as a back-up and that works fine, albeit as your 2720 a bit slower with the calculation.

That's a long route for a 550 calculate, possibly reasonably finely detailed if you are missing out tolls.

Either, break it up into bite sized chunks or calculate it on your PC and upload it to the 550.
