Mesh jacket

I’ve just tried on my Rukka mesh jacket and it fits like a tent.
Anyone got any recommendations for a new one without spending Rukka money ?

Dunno if that’s in your budget but I can certainly recommend them.

Can’t open the link but looking at sports bike shop it’s about as costly as the Rukka

I wear Knox Honnister all year round. In winter I just put my Warm n Safe heated shirt under it and my Scott Ergo over it.

I've had a Triumph branded one for several years. Came with removable armour and was stylish enough to wear as a casual jacket.

Can I ask, are these mesh vests certified for abrasion resistance?

I wear my textile kit with all vents open for abrasion protection and an airbag vest beneath for impact protection. It was getting damn hot and sticky on a recent tour at temperatures above 32 degrees.

Many of these mesh jackets and trousers look like a string vest with a few rubber pads in strategic areas. The Klim advertised above mentions comfort, ventilation and CE armour but seemingly says nothing about abrasion resistance.

I don’t think I’d like to slide up the road in one unless they are up to the job for abrasion, my airbag vest will take care of impact forces.

From memory and when I bought mine on recommendation from the twat in the hat he was claiming that the material was actually more abrasion resistant than other Klim stuff

I’d love a mesh jacket for extreme heat conditions but I’m loathe to blindly trust the “chap in the caps” word unless he can back it up with some certification where the product has been through some form of testing rather than his desire to sell product no matter how well intended.

I quite like my skin and don’t fancy having a graft if it all goes tits up, even if he brings me bunches of grapes to my hospital bed.

Halvarsson Halvika...Nice and comfy, I tried the knox vz the jacket and found them both great, but versatility of the Mesh jacket won out

I’ve got the Klim induction and the Klim marakesh. They are very well made and I trust their strength as much as any other textile material. The induction has a courser mesh that the marakesh and is slightly cooler as a result. The marakesh though is also a stretch fabric which makes it incredibly comfortable and a really good fit. It’s my favourite bike gear to wear now. I just take a Klim forecast shell to put on top if it rains

I use a BMW Airshell, bought used, but will be thinking twice about using it again as it's only rated to the barest entry level CE certification. I'd rather wear my leathers or Rukka jacket with a cooling vest underneath. I do use the KLIM Marrakesh trousers and find those excellent so the jacket is one I will eventually buy to match with it since the trousers are great in warmer weather. A bit spendy though.

The Supershirt 2.0 from Adventure Spec is an awesome bit of kit. The Level 2 rated armour sits exactly where you want it, and it's rated AA for abrasion resistance. I wore it out today with a tshirt underneath and an mtb jersey over it. Windflow was excellent keeping me nice and cool on the bike. Even off the bike it's not stifling and if you do get too warm just pop it off. Full back and chest protection along with the usual elbow and shoulder armour. For chillier weather I pop on a cheap puffer jacket. For the wet stuff I have a light windcheater type jacket. Each layer has its own job and you just pop on what you need on the day.
