Wondering if the metal grill headlight protectors make much of a difference to the light output. I'm assuming it doesn't cast much shadows or any pattern?

I tried one found it cast a shadow, so got a plexiglass one.

Thanks for the answers. Clear plastic it is then!
in the darker nights you get a reflection from the headlamp, which some riders think is annoying. get the stick on one

I had clear plastic. Didnt like it. Reflection & scratches.
Had the Touratech LC grill on my last three GSA's. It does cast a tiny shadow, but nothing to worry about. Easy & quick to remove with one pull. And i think looks great.

Had the plastic one also, not that I ever done big miles at night, but I hated it. The reflection annoyed me, as well as being easily scratched. Got new bike so think I'll try the Touratech grill as Onahi recommmends.

This is like an oil and tyre question, everyone has their favorites, although I really did not want any headlight protector, having had a windscreen on the van looking like it came from a war zone, thanks to a nice truck not having a net over his load of pebbles, I tried the metal grill one, did not like it, thought it cast a shadow, so I got the Plexiglass one from Wundrlich, it is good quality, and will hopefully save me forking out a grand for a new LED headlight, I do not have any problems yet with scratching, or shadows, I do not think the food wrapping ones that you stick on the headlight will help against a decent sized stone, maybe a bit of gravel.............
I tried a plexiglass one first and found the reflected light quite annoying. I then went for the same plexiglass type but with a plastic 'eyebrow' which stopped the reflection and it doesn't cast a shadow. Bought it off here so can't tell you the make unfortunately.
Buy Chinese copy of ebay at under £18 delivered. Less than 1/5 of TT price.

Yeah, I just took a punt on a cheap one off AliExpress. If it's crap, no real wallet harm done.
