Need some help because I've not got the instructions. Do the brackets that bolt underneath the seat area require nuts to be attached to the other side? If so does this require the tank etc to be removed?
Any help would be much appreciated
Thanks
Dan

No

I have SW Motech quick release pannier racks on my 700GS & had then on my 650GS, same frame & use bolts that were under the seat & no nuts were used.

( other than the nut fitting the racks.. ) :D

You can see the bottom bolt seems to have just shaken loose.

I did use thread lock on mine, just because they are upside down....
Never had a problem, did Holland, Czech Republic, Kracow, BMW Mottorad Berlin 2500 miles last Sept & just done 11 days from Bilbao to Perpignan & back on the N - 260 & loads of passes in between & no problems with the racks...

Super thanks for your help. I was just concerned because I had 4 nuts to go with these upside down bolts

I did however dump the Allen bolts for normal steel fasteners.
1, because stainless steel can shear off.
2, would be a reet bugger should hex bit round off ( as they do )
3, normal steel bolts can be tightened up more....

The rivnut on the bottom one is spinning in the frame. I was thinking about just leaving the bolt out because it's all still secure . I'd rather have it in though, any ideas how to secure the rivnut to stop it spinning or is it shagged

I spose welding would be the only way to stop spinning.
I there a whole through the rivnut, if yes then a saleroom nut & bolt through to secure

Bit of a bugger either way..
