Need new tyres for the 1150GS Adv. Looked at all the site info. Going for ether Tourance or the Annake. I do want best wet grip, not to bothered about price, only do 6/7000 a year but usualy a trip or to to the South France. No off road work (occasional gravel track to camp site). I am after good grip in wet weather, feed back and predictabillity. The Tourances seem favorite. On T66 at moment. Any opinions/help much appreciated.

My new 1200 came with Anakees and I wasnt thrilled about that, I am a Tourance fan and I had never ridden on Anakees. Since I bought the bike it has pi$$ed down every day. After 600 miles in the rain, they are EXCELLENT wet weather tyres. Every bit as good, maybe marginally better than the Tourance. No idea what wear will be like because I have probably only done about 100 dry miles, but at toe down angles of lean (in the dry) they have never budged. A good tyre in my opinion :D

PS: The 1200 is lighter than the ADV, might make a difference ?
PPS: T66 very good in the dry, shocking in the wet, spin up easy as anything.

My thoughts...

... not done much on the GS but have gone through a shed load of tyres on two previous Varaderos.
T66...good all rounder but shot away in less than 5k
Tourance... best wear and solid in wet...usually changed at just over 7k
Anakees... better handling in dry, (sharper steering?) and as good as Tourance in wet but dont last as long, changed at 6k but they were well and truly shot!
For what its worth, I will be putting Tourance on the GS when the originals are gone.
The personal opinion of a tear ar$e, nothing scientific...

In my honest opiniion the new Dunlop D 607's are the best road biased tyre out there at the moment!

Performance is SUPERB wet or dry!

Very soft though and do wear at a rapid rate but grip is endless!

Give them ago !

I was pleasently suprised as I wasn't expecting such good things from Dunlop!

Tyre fitter stated he has been receiving rave reviews from happy customers.

And I be one of em!:D

Anakees or Tourances

Having used both, on Anakees at moment I'd say both about equal wet or dry. However did have a faulty rear Anakee, some tread blocks seemed to be "separating" - no admission of a fault with them from Michelin but agreed to refund 65% of price (they'd done 2.5k miles) so can't have been damage by me or there wouldn't have been any refund;)

Shall be back to good ol' Metzlers when next replace, mainly due to fact that I dont think Anakees are any BETTER but are dearer & wear out more quickly - there again looking at one of the previous answers to your question I might just try the Dunlops which have been recommended.

Ade

PS T66 = crap handling wet or dry in my opinion:eek:

I was very happy with the Tourances riding on very wet & slimey roads last weekend.

I have used both in the rain and dry, for me they are very equal and personaly I could not give a dam which one I used. But here in Belgique I get a good deal on Michelins so I stick with them. Unlike some of the others I get 20000KM from the rear and 23000KM from the front. I do a lot of commuting by the way and tend to ride smooth at around 85MPH on the motorways.
Just go with whatever you get the best price on....
