Reliving bike trips whilst sat at my desk....
Just been looking at new tyres. My Michelins are on the way out courtesy of the damnable M4.

Thinking of giving the Tourances a go. Didn't like the ones that came on the bike, but they were squared off, and it made it a biased opinion.

But in the meantime also spotted these Enduro 4s. Look like they have a good tread depth, and don't loose about 20% of their contact patch on the rim, the way the Tourances do.

How do they compare to Tourances and TKCs?

Any good?

They are relatively superb on tar. They outbeat Tourance (which are a bit crappy , just built to last huge mileage with obvious compromises on the grip, IMHO) in any condition, dry or wet, cold or hot. At least from my experience with them. They are much more soft and heat up very quickly, while Tourances are rock-hard always and never seem to heat up in the cold conditions we have here, they can be fatal if expecting too much from them.

Don't have any experiences with TKC80s yet, but I can say from Heidenau K60, which are very similar to the TKC80. Comared to them there's simple rule of thumb: never go soft surfaced offroad with Dual Sport tyres like Tourances or Enduro 4s, Anakees etc. They just aren't comparable offroad, knobbytyres win hands down.

They "Dual Sport" tyres do a bit hard surface gravel, but that's their max.

If you want to do some offroad, then get K60s, TKC 80s or Karoos. There isn't much choice, the rest are just 100% crap in the deep mud or deep sand.

But if you stick on tar more than 90% of your mileage, I'd sure take Enduro 4s rather than Tourances which are strictly overhyped tyres, imho.

I have TKCs and K60s for the R1100GS that I should be getting soon.

The tourances/Enduro 4s would be for the 1150 that will be my winter bike, set-up with a Side car (I know, I know), so cornering grip will be less important. Traction and long distance will be the priority for that bike.

I used them a lot before Tourances were out, as they were 'de rigeur' on 1100GS's

Behaved fine, wet or dry

Interesting concept from Margus...................I might just return to them, if that's the case

Are they still in production or are they phased out in favour of Tourances?

Have Enduro 4 on the back of my GS12ADV done around 5500 miles so far and all seems pretty good got around 4 mm left so they should do Europe and back but will be well squared off by then.

Got them from FWR.co.uk pretty cheap if remember right

I remember mine wore down very quick, only got 3/4k from the rear (and 10k from the K60). Gripped much better than the K60's in the dry but I had issues with the rear sliding in the wet. Handling is superior to the K60's.
