Ridden these for 2K miles now. They were great over the late summer - more fun than the A3's (as you'd expect for road tyres). But since the start of the cold weather, when there's a hint of dampness on the road as well, I'm beginning to lose confidence in them. One major and one minor slip today.

Others seem to be reporting the same?

Can't see me sticking with these as an all season tyre.

It says they are a “Summer touring tyre”

That kind of tells you something??

Your title is a bit misleading though - Roadtec-01 is a brilliant all-year sports-touring tyre.

Roadtec 01 is a good tyre but it is also described as a summer tyre.

Oops! Never knew that!

They would still be my ‘all year tyre’ of choice for my XR, though.

Maybe too many people expect miracles from tyres in all temperatures?

Strange, I rode these on my rt all through last winter and they performed really well even in below 0c temps. Though I now use pr4gts for better longevity.

This time of year the roads, when damp, are always slippery. It does not matter what tyre you use.

True but it's a good time to ride to sharpen up your riding skills as this is when you need them most

I was out today and some roads were very slippery. It's not all on the tyres. I lost traction once (TC kicked in)... very slippery in parts on damp patches and it was 6 degrees.. so nowhere near freezing.

I blame a mix of salt spreading, low temps, no rain but moisture mixed in.. like a paste

Thanks for your thoughts/feedback guys. There's been a light mist in the air down my way for the past two weeks, admittedly, but I had begun to think it was more than that - maybe not. Have to say, the traction control is bloody impressive!

Or live to ride another day, I really feel for the lads who have no choice, my choice is an old van for winter, when it gets really slippy and dodgy.

Define choice: the bike is an addiction that I need to feed...

Get out there! It was glorious in parts today!

Yep, had a nice wee ride out today, roads improved no end as the morning headed to lunchtime. One of the guys I was with was struggling, but I’m pretty sure he just wasn’t pushing hard enough to get enough heat in his tyres to get them working, cos the other guy and me were getting on fine, just a few minor slips on the really greasy bits.( and we were hardly scratching :D)

I generally only ride in the winter so I don't have to bother with all that 'winter lay up' faffing about.

Oh, plus there are some glorious days when the sun shines but it's bloody cold.

IMVHO you can't beat a PR4 or Tourance Next for all year round riding.

Keep it shiny side up. :thumb2
