Michelin PR4 Trail or Road 5 Trail

The Bridgestone Battlax A41’s are now ready for replacement on my R1250GS (5000miles).

I fancy either the Michelin PR4 Trail or the newer Road 5 Trail.

Thoughts?

I have pr4 trail on the front and pr 4 gt on the rear. Had the same combination for my last 2 European trips. No punctures no issues.
 
i put PR5 Trail on my GSA 1200 ,i did this on recommendations and also cos Michelin had a cash back offer etc. i did around 4000 miles on them.The front showed really strange and irregular pattern of wear around the circumference of the tyre. This felt strange when turning in. I googled the issue and it wasn't just mine.The Back had great grip, wet or dry. I would try them again.
I changed to a 1250 sept, it came with Anakees, Was hoping for the A41s. Will watch the thread with interest to see who recommends what though

My A41s are are noisy as hell, well the front is for sure. Im thinking I’m going to take them off and fit the Roadtec 01s i already have for it.

Same here. Very happy with the TA3 so far :thumby:

The PR4 was very susceptible to punctures caused by the sharp stone chippings used for road resurfacing. I had two punctures within a few weeks of each other. I only saved a third when I stopped after riding on a recently resurfaced road and picked the chippings out of the tyre grooves, one of which was about to pierce the carcass.
 
Had new GS in 2014 it came with Anakee 3’s that I took off at 1500 miles, swapped to PR4’s. I just swapped to 5’s, at 14,500 miles, but it was second 4 on rear. None of the three were worn out, I swapped because of imminent departures for Euro mountain trips & wanted new rubber. I never got a puncture.
Presently in Pyrenees & 1700 miles into trip on the 5’s which are great, but not obviously better than 4’s at anything, there was rain in France on the way down. I’m told they will wear better than 4’s, but I had no complaints anyway.
 
Just get the better tyre, the PR5. Even if the PR4s were £50 a set cheaper and you got through 2 sets a year, what's a £100.00 on a years worth of ridiing fun.

Agree with that the PR5 ( PR5 Trail ) looks more purposeful and delivers much grip and think it has a more sporty profile than the Pr4
 
Had a 2016 GS with annakee3’s..... hated them, so put on Roadtec01’s.....excellent

Now got a 1250GS that came with Annakee attacks..... hated them, so changed to PR5’s..... excellant.

Will try Conti RoadAttack3’s next i think.
