One of you folk might know details fer Michelin to put in a complaint/concern...😉 As we were fresh back on the mainland, I had to use a local m/c tyre chap who deals mainly Michelin as I needed at short notice... I bought a pair to try and negate the crazy price and eventually had the front fitted last July... Tyre manufacturer is end on 23 and they've covered about 7-8k miles and I was marvelling at the lack of wear on the mainland shite roads...😆 Then I spotted the cracks!🙄 Jeez, it only slightly worn and nae Auld so v disappointed... Anakee Road, and as a tyre it's good but quality is not if they do this... I usually avoid Mich, especially rears as the carcasses are so lightweight they seem to puncture easily....
PS I've searched the net but the details are not clear so you guys might have had experience of contacting...😉

I think their first question will be, what conditions were they stored in between purchase and fitting?

Many moons ago I bought a pair of Continental tyres for my K1100LT, TK11’s or some such which were ‘sport touring’ in that the centre compound was harder than the sides. Straight over to Ireland with them on and the bike never felt right throughout the week. Had a good look at them when I got home and there was a line either side of centre where the compounds were separating. Sent them back to M&P, refunded, no questions but that was only about three weeks after purchase.

Why wouldn't you take this up with the place you bought them from first? They'll get on to Michelin.

Ha... He works shorter hours than me and I like to speak to the main folk first...😉 I'm in the motor trade and know the lame excuse routine at garages when problems occur ..🙄 that will be my 2nd port of call... Re storage... A few months of being in my perfectly suitable storage as per many other tyres previously... Supplier has good stock and they were weeks old when supplied... I've used hundreds of tyres over the years and virtually never had a quality prob, especially cracking and if any, usually near the end of their short life... At times of no cash when younger I've used a selection of cast offs, old tyres and part worns with no issues either...

PS My imported GTR1000 is still on older tyres I bet that were US issue as well... 2019 I think with no cracks but the front is a wee bit wooden and I'm gonna change...👍😆

That looks poor… I’m on a pair of Dunlop D212 GPs that were cheap. One is dated 2014 and the other 2016 and they’ve been excellent everywhere so far. The tyres before were Dunlop Roadsmarts from 2012 and were fitted last year to go to the TT and Sid’s do in Dordogne. Age doesn’t always seem to be a limit or, at least, not when it’s still way beyond my limit. Tyres never seem to last me long enough to worry about cracking, though.

Same here, I'm just shocked the mainland roads are so fecked they don't wear yer tyres... There also can be an immense amount of BS talked about tyres in general... My motto is if I could ride like a twat on 80/90s design tyres on an unsuitable bike I'm sure modern ones will generally be ok...🤣

You’re right. Lots of tyre snobbery around, especially wrt used or old new stock.

I figure they’re all capable of lots more than I am, and I’m capable of riding TKC80’s around the IOM until they go blue around the edges. 1500 miles was the best I got from a pair and I pissed of some people on ZX6-Rs to my friend’s hilarity. He waited for me in Ramsey as I went to the loo, but 2 guys we passed arrived and were pointing at my bike when one said ‘That’s the bastard that passed us before Handleys (around the outside and back tyre gently oversteering)… And the f*ckers on knobblies..!!’ Bob was pissing himself laughing when I got back and the next year, turned up on an 1150GS

🤣🤣 yep, much fun... I've chased sports bikes on a GS with Mitas TKC types... 😄 One bend usually gives you an idea of where they're at...😆 We used to bait sport bike posers when dispatching... Pass em with a top box on...👍 Not what you've got etc...

7-8k in and your complaining of cracks?

I'd be consigning them to the bin, and getting new

Tyres are consumables, if I get 6k. Regardless there getting changes

18 months since manufacture, probably less than half half worn...? After an adult lifetime of tyres and 100s of k miles this is a first...🤣 Here's a 2019 Bridgestone on a bike I've bought that will be changed as it's wooden ... Nae cracks...😉 And yes, I usually wear them out quickly but not so much on these worn roads...
So, any contact details or I'll just ring a Michelin UK number Monday ...🙄

PS refer to pic 2 1st post...
Just remembered I've now done 4k on the wooden Bridgestone...😆 In the wet sometimes too... I'll tell myself off...👍
