Can some please tell me how to stop auto numbering/indenting of items in a Word doc. It's driving me mad!!

I want to number my items but not automatically, so when I put:

1. Check boundaries
2. Draw plans etc. etc..

I don't want it to jump in by a tab, and do it automatically:

1. Blah Blah
2. Rhubarb....
3. etc. etc.

I've put 'None' in numbering and bulleting under Format/Bullets and Numbering, but it still just does it whatever.

Please tell me how to turn it off.

Thanks

Will

In the 'Tools' menu select 'Autocorrect options'.
Select 'Autoformat as you type' tab
Uncheck 'Automatic numbered lists' and 'Set left and first indent with tabs and backspaces'.
This should do the trick. :thumb2
