Midland BT1 Reliability...or not?

I got a pair of Midland BT1 bluetooth intercom units at the BikeSafe show this weekend. I really like the features (the wired ipod, bluetooth phone work great, callers could not tell I was on a bike at all)

HOWEVER

one of the units has developed a 'loose wire' the makes the right hand
speaker cut out intermittently. This seems to be within the rubberized wiring harness.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is this a case of nice design, scrimped on the manufacturing? Or did I just get a bad unit?

Eager to hear from anyone who has used one of these (or the BT2, Im sure the earpieces are the same) for some time.

Ihave a BT2 which I am just getting used to, no problems with mine. I would fone Midland (Alan-UK) and ask for a replacement headset.

Thanks; I've contacted the seller (www.bikecomms.co.uk, the website is a non-starter but they seem to be pretty customer focused folks) and they are sending me a replacement in the post. I also sprung for the 'hi fi' speakers to try that out. Fingers crossed.

I also sprung for the 'hi-fi' speaker set, and there is a fairly good improvement in quality, dissappointing thing for me now is the connector keeps falling out of the BT2 unit. It was fine with the original set.

Will inspect later and see if there is any thing I can do, otherwise will be foning Midland.

Just to wrap this up; the bikecomms people were really nice and replaced the faulty unit within a day. I also sprung for the better speakers which definitely helped with music. Overall quite happy with the BT1; now trying to get it to work OK with my Zumo 660....
