What are you getting to a tank full on your 1150 gs??

I have a 2004 GS Adventure and ride to work every day which involve sa 5 min back lane ride at the start and end of the journey and a 20 mile motorway section so basically the bikes at 80mph for most of the ride (not back lanes of course)

I seem to be getting about 220 miles to the tank. Is this good, bad?

Remember its motorway mileage not back lanes at 56mph!!

Cheers

Well if you have a 33 litre tank?, i thought they should do about 50mpg, and your not running it dry are you.

Is very good for a short distances
You intend to lose moor petrol when the bike gets started If you start to go for a long ride you fined that you can do over 300m at 70mph/3500rpm
So yes is good.

Standard 22l or large 30l fuel tank?

220 if its standard is good, if its the large tank not so good, but depends if you fill it to the top... (it takes a while) do a search for the fuel tank mod on how to get an extra 2l and make it easier to brim.

on a recent long run my 1150gs,(standard tank) did 198 miles to the low fuel warning light. on another trip to the london bike show (heavy london traffic) the lamp was on at 145 miles-just depends how you use it .

1150GS with 22 litre tank, usually go about 200 miles before the light comes on, then get in about 19 litres. so about 48 to the gallon. 20 miles on motorway, anywhere between 50 (roadworks) and 90. 3 miles to get to motorway one end, one mile the other. I don't accelerate hard.

1150GSA with St Eptoe fuel filler mod.

Commute M11/A12/city crap 15 miles each way. 240 till light comes on, fill up at 260ish normally putting in 27-29ltrs. 300-330 miles on a run.

22 litre tank hooning around locally full to light on 160miles, two up fully laden continental high speed touring 175miles, sensible sightseeing in the alps two up 200 plus miles per tank

standard gs, 250 miles from filled to brim down to fumes, regular as clockwork.

Standard 1150 GS, brimmed to the top of the filler, 186 miles until the light comes on (bearing in mind the speedo over-reads by 6% that would be the equivalent of 175 miles), over a 100 mile daily commute which is 50% dual carriageway cruising at 90-ish, the rest back roads averaging 50 ish with global panniers tall screen and top box. the most I've ever got into the tank is just under 23 litres. Ive had 220 before light on when I've stuck to A-roads-I guess the high average speed combined with the drag from the panniers knocks it down a fair bit? Taking the panniers off seems to get me another 10 miles or so before light on.

Standard GS - the blue/white model - from the rim to fuel light usually get 225 miles mixed riding, top box fitted, panniers now and then. However, have only gone 20 miles with fuel light leering at me daring me to go the extra mile - it's a big thing to push off the road!

That's pretty good, my 1150GSA does about 180-190 with about 27l, but that's straight through the London crap, 10miles each way.

On tour I was getting 240 miles per 27l, two up, full luggage.

Incidentally, with a 1150GSA, has anyone found out how far you can go from when the fuel warning light comes on to when you judder to a fuelless halt? If I fill up as the light comes one, its thirsty to the tune of about 27l. By my calcs, with another 6l in the tank I should be able to take it another 40 miles. Anyone found out the hard way?

I have had 42 miles, you can allways lean the bike over on the right, gets you a couple of extra litres :rob

I did London to Kendal 300m full tank and my light jut came on and from the same spot to home 300m full tank to my door step
I am very happy:clap

I've managed 50 miles from the light, but this really was to empty and done out of desperation in the middle of the night and I was riding as gently as possible. My 1100 used to start making moaning noises when down to fumes which was caused by the pump sucking air, it was a useful early warning as it meant there was about 10 miles left before it stopped dead!

An 1150,properly serviced, riden within reasonable speed limits and no panniers should return between 45-50 mpg.If you do run out,you can tip the bike onto its offside to get a few more miles of petrol from the nearside lobe of the tank. The hernia you may get picking the bike up again is a seperate problem.:D
