whats the most milage anyone has got on there 1200,and what are most hoping to get before it starts costing to much for parts ect

Just sold my '05/euro '04 at 32k+ miles. It had been perfect. New '06/euro '05 going on a trip tomorrow. :thumb

17,300 miles, needed rear brake pads and dip h/light bulb at around 10,500 miles.
Cost BMW a bit more:rolleyes:
Balance shaft oil seal
Final drive
New switch assembly for headlights
Top Box
Rear wheel
Front engine casing
Gaitor
Airbox
Rider's seat rubbers

Out of warranty beginning of April so have ordered a new one for March '06.

M.M's has done 13,000 miles, needed pads & bulb at similar mileage.
Fuel pump & front wheel under warranty, it's had a easier life than mine :D

23,000 miles, things that have gone wrong so far:

Clutch master cylinder packed up
Front engine cover corroding badly
Final drive developed slight play
Seat tore
Top box wobbly

All of the above fixed under warranty. How reliable it is in the second year of ownership will probably decide whether I keep it after the warranty runs out.

31,500 miles. The only problems my R12GS has had are:

Trip button didn't always work, so BMW replaced the entire left handlebar switch cluster. It was a plug-in deal, and took about 2 minutes, total, to replace.

BMW security alarm system quit working, and was replaced under warranty.

I know of two R1200GS'es in the USA that have over 70,000 miles (Bo Abernethy and Vicki Johnston), but neither visits this site to my knowledge.

I forgot to mention, Vicki's R12GS had its rear drive replaced under warranty at about 50,000 miles. I'm unaware of what other problems her or Bo's bikes might have had.

Glutton for punishment aren't you? Ordering a new one after all that!
