Hello does anyone know if the mileage display on the fuel computer on the 800gs can it be changed over to kilometers, on some of my jap bikes you just held one of the buttons and it changed over itself.

Thanks Lee

Talk to your local BMW dealer, they should be able to hook it up to their computer and change it over in a jiffy for you. Perhaps even the GS911 tool will do it too.

I overheard the guys at CW in Dorchester who were trying to do it for what sounded like the first time, and it sounded like a bit of a bugger, however it might just be one of those things where it's a gazillion times easier when you know how.

I don't know how many dealers are near you, but in my area I have two dealers within an hours ride, and another within a couple hours ride. Consider phoning around the dealers near you and asking if they have done / willing to do the change for you.

Finally I don't know how permanent you want this to be (for example you might only be doing a few days in france) you could consider using a GPS and changing it to KPH.

I do most of my riding outside the UK. I switch the Zumo over to km, do all my planning in km and think in km, so it would be cool to change the OBC to km as well.

MPG is pretty meaningless when we can't buy gallons. MPL or KPL would make more sense but I would be equally happy changing to L/100K.

What I particularly like on my Tenere is the digital speedo--easy to see your speed at a glance (difficult on the F-GS analog speedo)--but even better with the press of a couple of buttons the speedo can be changed over to KPH.

change settings

bought mine in the US all they needed to do was connect the computer and then they are free to change all the settings. not a problem if your dealers tech is laptop savvy. the guys here really know their stuff:
