I've beeen trawling the web, but so far haven't found feck all that wouldn't be a lashup special.

Any cables out there I buy that I can just plug into the DIN power socket thingie and use to charge/power mini-usb devices while riding along?

I've got an XDA Orbit PDA thingie I want to keep charged.

Cheers

Cheers Gypsy

I've seen those and know you can buy a cigarette > DIN converter, but I'd be worried about exposure to the elements.

As I'm looking for something to use while riding around the West Coast of Scotland I'd think it'd have to be at least monsoon proof.

I could tuck the PDA in a tank bag, but would be worried about the connections at the bike end.

:)

I was looking at this. Building a 12v - 5v converter would be very easy and then you'd just need to waterproof it and get some connectors going.

Something like this from Maplin, a small box to put it in and then some connectors. Fill the box with resin for robustness.

I recon all of the bits would be around a tenner. Mmm......

When are you off to Scotland?

Next Saturday. Yay!

I'm amazed that there's nothing off the shelf (at least that I can find). I'm a numpty when it comes to wiring, so was hoping for something off the shelf.

http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread.php?t=98770 and still working on this as there is nothing bike specific out there other than the consumer grade bits that get cobbled and used but not intended to survive the rigours of two wheel use. The link still has some key clues, but the rest you'll have to wait for, which I hope shall be soon and the 'testers' have a had a play first :augie

Hallo!

Yeah, I saw it, but I'll also need the converter from ciggie to DIN socket and loads of tape/silicon/smeg/whatever to seal it, hence 'bodge'.

:)

I've got a din to ciggy socket on a flying lead that's permanmently mounted on my bike....then i just plug in my Blackberry 12v charger which has the mini usb end......no bodging, just 8 quid for the din>ciggy sockrt and 2.99 for the blackberry charger :nenau
