I have created a small 4 slide Powerpoint doc in Office 2007. First of all it saved it as a .pptx which, like a .docx file , Office 2003 users can't view . So i changed the file extension to .ppt, problem fixed.

Then I realised what i really wanted was for the file to be sent as a slideshow file NOT a powerpoint file because I just wanted people to be able to just see a slideshow not access the presentation. So I converted it. Dead easy.

But now its an actual slideshow file it will only open for Office 2007 users and there is no conceivable way of changing the file extension so far as I can tell.

Been pissing about for the last hour but cant figure it out :(

Anybody help?

Ian

You could piss about with it but I doubt you'll overcome it - better still and less hassle I'd say is get your intended target computer set up with Powerpoint Viewer 2007

Its a free download.

What you should have been able to do once you'd created the file was save it as whichever older version you required then once done - created a pack n go file of the newly created. PPT file

You can download MS Office converter files to enable earlier versions of Office to read the 'x' suffix file extensions.

Right thanks for the help guys but I just sorted it .

I was trying everything to change the file extension because I was convinced that when I clicked on the icon to to save the presentation as a slideshow file ( hrs ago :mmmm) it didnt give me any options as to the file type .

I read Andys post and just thouhgt I would try saving it again and it DID give me the option

Js suis une muppet :eek
