It is a Thing of Beauty !! 200 miles through the worst Weather I have ridden in a few years . So Stable , so full of torque , yet so basic . Love it !! Lots of TLC tomorrow:D

Thank Fekk for that.....I had a niggling doubt that coming from a 12adv you might not adjust to the difference quickly, but you are obviously a man of fine taste and impeccable discernment.......this bike will do you for years and years :clap

Here you Go . Took some cleaning today . Solid bike :thumb

The Kalahari was a limited special edition colour in the 1100.

Some like it, some hate it, and in reality, there's nothing different about it other than the paint, just like the SE and Triple blacks in more recent years.

Personally, I like it, not necessarily because of the colour (Which I like but prefer the Red on the 1100) but mainly because it shows it's original, and it comes with a bit of heritage if that makes sense....
There was a Kalahari version of the R80GS which wasn't this yellow, but other than that I don't know what the differences were between it and the standard basic.

Have you looked into the gearbox hard part yet?

Please please please do, and fit one ASAP.....My kalahari got broken at this weak spot when off-road in Morocco, but they can also be damaged just in a simple drop......it's one of the very few weak spots in the design, but a fekking nightmare to bodge a field-fix and quite expensive to fix properly.

I'm unaware if there are any non-touratwat hardparts for it, but Vern will know :thumb2

I though it was a standard colour, also known as Monkey Piss Yellow :pissl :D

The only limited edition colour 1100's that I know of were the Red/White 75th Anniversary and the Silver/Yellow Granada Dakar models.

Nothing except the colour , it being Kalahari Yellow . It was available in red and black as well . Red was the most popular colour I think :thumb

Thank's the tank looks bigger but guess its just an optical illusion
I like the colour its almost dayglow:D

Hmmm you may well be right Paul....looking at Micapeak, it's standard.

I always thought it was a special edition :blast

Maybe it was just the people who ordered that colour.....they must have been 'special' :augie

Yup...I just said that JB :thumb2

Looby had a white'un.....can't remember the year though

Sorry Bill, missed your response

I think white's only came in for a short while in 1994, with plastic tanks

Once they went to steel tanks, Kalahari came in

I went from a 1200Adv to an 1100 - best thing I ever did. Sounds like you're loving it as much as I am. Great bikes and yours looks like one of the best ones out there.
