Please write the name here http://www.yr.no/ or tell me!

From that page I got these diagrams.
Slattum is a few km from where I live, just outside Oslo.

What area are the coldest in Scotland?

UK coldest records -27.2°C Braemar 1895, 1982, and Altnaharra 1995

I was camping in Braemar that winter (the 1982 one :D ) though can't remember if it was during the record low, though of course it probably was :augie

Did my SMAC 50 Artic Commando Training in 1974 at Bardufoss in Northern Norway which included camping out in bivvy bags for 48 hours and the temps were around -30C but never felt as cold as Scotland's ski resorts can sometimes

Braemar are not the coldest right now.
Bellshill are colder! :eek

''Dry cold'' does not feel as cold as the ''wet cold'' by the coast.
Bardufoss and Røros get often low temperatures in winter, but if they have no wind it does not feel so bad. ...well, it's not like Egypt!

A typical cold place in Scotland; where? :nenau

Look up Aviemore. I've been at Drumguish, 3 miles south of Kingussie and 20 minutes drive from Aviemore, when the temperature was off the bottom of the scale on the thermometer. It was calibrated down as low as -25C. It was OK, dry cold:D

I remember that it was minus 42 and me and Wully went camping near Oban. We didnae hae tents or even a jacket atween us. Short sleave shirts IIRC. We sat up all night drinking cold tea made fae snaw and moss and I listed to Wully's navy tales and stories about Tiree.

Youngsters today dinnae know they're born...:rob

Aviemore and Oban:
-Not that cold?
But, as said before, the wind does not help. :eek

1997 boxing day

anyone mind the boxing day storms of 1997 , ( think it was 97 anyway ) i was dayshift leading up to 26th dec 97 , , we had temp of minus 27 in lanarkshire and i spent 2 days dealing with burst pipes , and flooding emergencies ..and then on boxing day we had winds of 118 mph , i was at a house party that night , i will never forget walking throught the village at 06:30 heading to the cerry out shop for more drink , it was like a war zone ... roof tiles missing , flashings down ,,, chimney pots lying in the roadway .... mental ,, just mental ,,, anyway , i soldiered on looking for drink and found a friend's father lying frozen to death. the poor basard had come out of the local miners welfare, got disoriantated as you do when you are pissed , and sat down for a rest ....... poor fecker .... wrong descision ,,,, still kind of bothers me , because if i had decided that enough was enough and headed home a bit earlier , i would have found him earlier and maybee ,,, just maybee he would still be here ... who knows :nenau:nenau
