I want to raise the right hand mirror on my 1150GS by a couple of centimetres to accommodate my Go Cruise which knocks against the mirror since I fitted a set of Grip Puppies (solving one problem creates another...) - anyone know of a simple solution?

not sure what the threads are on the GS but there used to be extensions available for Jap mirrors maybe that would be worth looking into

Better check out if you can remove your ones first, its not unknown for the thread to snap trying to undo them.

some 8mm mirror risers - note these are marketed for Yamahas so have one RH & 1 LH thread. Not sure if the BMW is the same. Available in black or silver finish. Under £11 deliverd from Taiwan - the 10mm version is very popular with MT09 riders.

Thanks for the thought - mirrors have been off before and treads greased before replacement.

I have the very same on my Honda 500 but they will not work on the GS because the mirror is set into the handlebar assembly.

I made some mirror extensions a while back for my 1150, I made both ( About 2 1/2" each ) from an old mirror stalk I had spare. Drill and tap one end, thread the other, standard metric threads as far as I remember. I used some high strength studlock to fit them to the mirrors to stop them turning in the wind. Been on for at least 7 years now no problems. They also blend in with the original mirrors as the shaft is the same size & colour. All you need is 1 old mirror to make them as short or as long as you require.:thumb
