Anyone have any suggestions for how to improve the position of the mirrors on a 12GSA (late model)?

NN has bracketry to move them out - although the N/S one gets a bit compromised because of the fog light switch - but I want to raise the mirrors, not move them out.

It's been suggested that the mirrors for the 12LC are bigger and give a better view but I don't know if they fit the non-LC 12GSA. Does anyone know if they do?

NB. I am looking at fitting a pair of ROX risers from NN but am concerned that the anti-vibration version might be (a) a waste of money, i.e. ineffective or (b) induce more vibration in the mirrors. Any thoughts on that subject would be welcome too.

TIA

Richard

Touratech sell mirror extenders.

I have a 13 plate TC GSA with the NN mirror extenders I think they are Wonderlich ones. The switch does stop the NS mirror moving out, but I find it moves it out enough and the height works better for me. I am what you might call wide in the elbows or a fat git! I can see fine with them fitted,

I think the LC mirrors are the same as the 800GS and I read on here that they fit the TC, I don't think they are quite has high as the TC mirrors but they are about 2" wider, not sure there's much benefit in swapping them?

Some people use F800 mirrors which they say give better visibility. They fit straight on:thumb2

Are you saying that the 800GS mirror glass is 2" wider than that which is fitted to the 12 non-LC? As I said above, I'm interested in raising the height of the mirror but not interested in moving it out. The sideways position is fine but I have to duck to see them.

Yep they are wider, but if you want to lift the mirrors then you need either thread extenders which will take some finding or use the mirror extenders the wonderlich ones are about 25mm deep so lift the mirror height up 25mm as well as pushing them out to the sides about 30mm.

If its just the height you want to change you might be better looking at the TT ones they come with a 20mm and 40mm height spacer in the pack, instructions here:

Thanks

They look good, but still have the sideways or forwards displacement which, I imagine will foul the fog light switch. Really all I want is a straight bit of steel tapped to take the mirror at one end and threaded to screw into the bar fitting at the other.

Just type motorcycle mirror adaptors into fleabay lots to choose from @ 3 or 4 quid

I'm guessing its M10 but this seller has other sizes

With a cut off bolt threaded and Loctited into one end this hex connector will give a raised mounting.

Rox Anti vibe risers on my Yamaha 900 were great - more comfortable on long runs and clear mirrors to boot. I used a 25% up and 75% back arrangement. However the Yam vibrates vertically. The BMW vibrates horizontally so who knows if the Rox would work as well. They might need to be more vertical than horizontal. That's great if you want the bars higher but not if you want a shorter reach to the bars.

Thanks Bendy Toy

Will persue Fleabay.

Regarding the Rox lifters: it's 'up' that I need. I've already reversed the stock mounts to move the bars back (closer) to me so it sounds as though I could experiment by reversing the stock mounts again and fitting the Rox lifters to see what is best or worse.

Cheers

I tried my Rox risers with specially made lower bar mounts, but I wanted "back" more than "up" (if that makes sense). TBH they did next to nothing on the Beemer. I did not think to try them in an "up" position, because the additional height would not have suited me.

Ive learned to live with the vibes and I now do much less motorway riding, so its less of an issue. One idea was to make a sorbothane isolated mounting plate to sit on the forks top yoke.

With the bars high you may not need the mirror extenders but parts are cheap enough to try. I guess you could always fit flat bars into the risers.
