From Pisa i headed north passed the beaches Viareggio and Massa through the post town of La Spezia. Nothing much here really until you turn off... View attachment 99544 View attachment 99545
The cliff road was really good and flowing with lots of really good scratching corners left and right. The road followed the med sea for the last part until i reached Riomaggiore. Lovely little town and part of the Cinque Terre. An area of outstanding beauty and a World Heritage site. 5 villages joined together by a cliff path or train.
Those pics never loaded but no worries you didnt miss much..
On to Riomaggiore..
Not too much to say here so just let the pics do it for me but d check out the bar perched on the cliff edge.... stunning..
Its started raining again so ill carry on for a bit..
Left Riomaggiore dead early to have a good run before the traffic turned up. 6am was a great idea. Headed along the coast road west and what a great road it was winding along the cliffs, shame i didnt stop for pics again....
No one about just me and the GS. Plan was to hit the auto route and get to the mountains as soon as id finished having fun on this road or got to Genova. The road spat me out a little early and has about 20 miles to Genova on the auto. Followed the Auto all the way to Giaglione and then onto the ss25 to the Rhone Alpes. This for me was going to Val D'isere.
Past the Lac Du Mont Cenis

Past Val D'Isere and into the Bourg-Sainte-Maurice valley.
Down the valley then a right turn and up to La Rossiere. This is another road that has to be ridden, superb. This really finished the toe slidders off! D1090 !!
Not finished yet!!!
Across the valley to the top of Les Arcs. Looks much better in the summer hey? Aiguille Rouge is the highest point!
Now this is my fav part. The Col De Sainte Barnard is awesome, Ive wanted to do this road for years and skied and boarded many parts inthe winter. The pass to the top is so much fun, just a series of twist and turns that you can see most of the way, its just a scratch left scratch right flip flop when taken fast!! loved it.
Down the other side into italy was great too but sorry too fast to get my camera out!!
At the bottomthe village of La Thuile that you an ski to in winter and Pre-Sainte-Didier. Lovely places and how do they kep them so clean??
Mont Blanc inthe background, always stunning!
Then onto Les gets. The Mont Blanc tunnel is the same as ever. Nice ride over and Les Gets was looking good.
After arriving at Steves place in Morzine it was straight into the hot tub and a beer. Cheers steve. http://www.alpineaddictsmorzine.com/index.htm
This chalet has been mentioned on links here many times in the last maonths but i cant praise it highly enough again. the converted barn is beautiful and Sarah and Steve cant do enough. Hope the GS has got a little dirty steve!!!??
Another sunny morning over Morzine looking out of the chalet.
