Here is a bit of an odd one. (I have done a search on misfire and surging but to no real avail)

When on constant throttle my 52 plate T/S keeps missing a beat about once ever 5-10 seconds.
It has a decat, end can and K&N.

Its definitely a misfire but the odd thing is when accelerating its smooth.

I'm assuming if it was anything to do with the coil packs/plugs I would feel it on acceleration as well but that seems all fine.

I dont think its the surging because you feel the bike performance dip then it resumes as opposed to it just picking up then slowing down.

Any thoughts?

Have you done a search on here Have a read on pretty much anything Steptoe has said about swapping coils plugs or whatever
Just keep away from anything relating to Harmonisers :rob

52 plate probably identifies year over there, means nowt to me, twin spark or single?

I was thinking a coil pack is the likely candidate but I was expecting the effect to be noticeable on acceleration as well as constant throttle.

I've had one of my dippy moments and I've just realised I. Have bought a single spark dah!

I'm sure I asked the seller if it was a twin spark and he said it was...oh well less plugs less coils happy days.. Who cares it's a blue and white one.

With surging though do you not feel the bike want to go faster then slow again, with this it feels like it's going to stall then picks upagain.

LOL. I've learnt never to believe what the seller tells you, I've recently bought a 330D and seller was convinced it was rolling on run flat tyres with no spare wheel. I noticed they weren't run flats and then found the spare under the false floor in the boot and the seller was truly amazed. He'd owned the car for 2 years when I bought it and didn't have a clue.

I bought a house once and the owner said the water pressure in the area was low (his explanation as to why the kitchen sink cold tap was slow)

I had a look under the sink and found a kink in the flexi pipe feeding it - straightened it out and left him to be beaten by his wife who'd been living with it for yonks :D

Mine does that. Bloody bike never runs the same two days straight. Some days the surge is non existant. Others it feels like it's going to stall.

I remember going to the most expensive bmw mechanics in Dublin and them suggesting I ride in a different rev range! Not practical really.

Try and live with it and get bike properly services and keep an eye on the weather and see what happens!

Best of luck.

I suggest balancing the carbs carefully and setting the idle screws on both throttle bodies. I had a similar hesitation at constant throttle around 2500 rpm on my 1100 and this cured it. For good measure I am running redex in the current tank of fuel in case dirty injectors was contributing. HTH
