Misfire when you crack the throttle!

My 1 year old GS has just come back from Germany. she was fine all the way there but on the day we set off to come home i noticed that she has a misfire.
she starts and runs fine at a steady throttle position but if you crack the throttle open to overtake or speed up quick she misfires and bogs down.
if you back the throttle off a bit she will pick up and go.
Any ideas?
Shes off to Pidcocks in 2 weeks but they said they has not heard of it before.

I had a very similar fault and it was the plugs. Bosch. They all had to be replaced 500miles after they were changed at the 24000 service.
 
Sounds like secondary (one's underneath) plugs / coil.

......also interesting how all dealerships say they've never heard of things before, when you know they probably have!!
 
I'm with Rick on this one - suggest spark plugs. I recehtly had the same symptoms after throwing the bike down the road. Straight after, the bike would misfire (run on one cylinder) at more than 3/4 throttle. Eventually the problem was traced to a cracke spark plug. BMW Wien told me that the spark plugs are rather sensitive to shocks etc.
 
Thanks for the info guys. I had the same symptom appear on my way back from the Hograost. Bike was in and out of water all day and is currently caked in half of the Salisbury Plain!

Will clean it down and if that doesn't work I'll change the plugs.
 
FWIW my plugs fitted by SPC at the 24k service are NGK. I guess dealers can fit whatever type is compatible ??

Never had a problem (touch wood) with misfires etc.

Spot on Dave,

I removed the plug on the right side only to find it had 4 cracks in.
New NGK plug fitted and all is well again.

Replaced my main plugs today and that seems to have cured the problem. Didn't measure the gap before I put them in as it looked about right. :augie
