Need some advice ! My R80GS runs smoothly up to about 65 -70mph. But whilst accelerating through that speed, it momentarily misfires (like the ignition is turned off for a second or 2) before picking up again. It only happens in top gear at that speed. Do you think its fuel related, or to do with sparks ?

Many thanks

Gotta be sparks..but where on earth you'd start to look for the problem, only heaven knows. You need a Steptoe once over you do !!

If you want to start sorting yourself...check the plug leads, they only have limited life. Then check earth connctions...before moving onto the expensive stuff. Doubt if you'll find the answer in here...more a suck it and see problem. Give the bike a thorough service ( new plugs/airfilter/valve adjustment etc etc ) before you start to look for the problem.:thumb2

Are we charging for advice now?
I take it you are referring to the subscription fee?

Mike - Is it a misfire that only happens at that point in the rev range, i.e. it will rev beyond that point?
Have you looked at your plugs?
It might be a HT lead or even the coil beginning to break down.

Is there asubscription fee ? I genuinely was not aware :blast I'll sort that.

It misfires ONLY between 65 - 70 mph in top gear. It doesn't appear to be related to revs, more to speed. Above 70 it clears. But I know it could do with a service ! I'll check the plugs first. That seems the cheapest place to start.
