Just put my hepco and becker bars back on and couldn't help noticing that there appear to be 2 bolts missing from the lower two holes on the off side footrest hangar assembly. Someone please tell me its ment to be that way to say weight or something.
PS I aint riding it at the mo' until i get a definitive answer.

:yikes There are indeed two bolts missing! Don't ride the thing until replaced! (But that you figgered yourself...)

Those bolts are supposed to be held in with thread lock with the consistency of fuggin superglue and should never fall out. Get down to your dealer and start complaining!

There is no noticeable wear where either bolt has loosened and scored the 'recess'. Mightily pissed off to say the least.

I have spent the entire time with the bike (2 1/2 years) doing a 7 mile commute over a deserted moor where, if the remaining bolt had sheared, i would have been very unlucky to have actually hit anything at all. (No trees, traffic, lampposts, barriers etc) However for the past 3 weeks i have been doing my new commute of nearly 30 miles each way along the heavily congested and f#####g dangerous M62. I do it either going and coming back in rush hour(s) or just going in it (coming back at 3am) I have had at least one 'oops didn't see you' moment each day and so yesterday took the wife to get a lovely new Toyota Yaris so that i could have the old banger when the weather was none too good. This must have been a sign! Only noticed the bolts this morning and thank god i did. I would suggest everyone has a good look round their bike slightly more regularly than i had done (until now when i'll be meticulous) The consequences do not bare thinking about.
Thanks for prompt replies.
Has anyone reading this got one of the CD Roms for the 1150 service. I now need one as i shall do the servicing myself. Good price paid.(By Yorkshiremens standards)

i'd say they were never tightened in the first place or no loctite was used. any residue?

There doesn't appear to be although,to my untrained eye it doesn't really look like there were bolts in there from the start. I 'll have a real good look and tell you what the dealer says when i speak to them.

So Dave...

Which do you prefer; The blast over the moor with stunning views of Widdop etc to then work down in the valley or, the grind down the M62 but then to play chopper coppers with great views over all of West Yorks moors etc?

ERM.....Guess it must be the latter, always loved working at Hebden right up until about 2 years ago when we were 'downsized' as bobbies on the beat cos we had to achieve f'ing government figures for crime detection etc so everyone went plain clothes in squads etc. 6 years ago there were 8 of us for 2 busy towns, now we're lucky to have 3 or 4! Same or slightly increased number of jobs (thanks mobile phones) half the staff equals double workloads.......best stop whingeing
New job = fantastic (and they pay me too)

Missing bolt

Had a browse round my bike earlier and found a missing bolt in the same place.

Went into Jeffries yesterday. Service manager siad he'd never known of it before. Didn't have the two bolts in stock (8mm x 20mm allen head) but found me one (no washers) Its booked in for its 20k service next week and they will hopefully check everything. I got the impression that they thought i must have slackened the 2 bolts off at some point and then tightened them a little too slack. I had never touched the bolts and if i had and then noticed them missing, i'd have felt a right twat and got bolts elsewhere and not told a soul.
I STRONGLY RECCOMMEND THAT EVERYONE CHECKS THESE THINGS. Already have another member with one bolt missing.
Oh and was told that these bolts are not threadlocked.
