Missing topbox

Lost my topbox today ,got home after a 120 mile run and it was gone.Retraced my path to find it in about 10 bitz 15 miles from home.Luckily I had forgotten my camera and all that was in it was a wetsuit and gloves which I retrieved .It was a BMW box ,the plastic one.Has anyone else lost one ,the lock mechanism was still closed upon inspection,it looks like the thing has just bust off.Cheers Big Jets. It was on a GS1100 looks like the ones you see on RT1150s.

This used to be quite a common problem.

BMW's 'fix' was to turn the front edge bar on the rack (where it is gripped by the box) so the the more squared edge presents to the box, not the rounded edge.

It'd be interesting to know which way around yours was.

I have one on my RT, carp top box, no space inside and ugly as feck, easly replaced with a givi

Greg the front bar on the rack the Square edge was towards the front .The rear bar at the loch mech is also square edge towards the front.

Top boxes.

My ten year old Givi survived many very rough roads, (TT pannier came
off!) thought the top box had gone checked it all ok, tem miles down the road at a border stop they all said "where's your pannier"!. got it back after
the shortest ever visit to Canada, about one minute!. Stick to Givi's they at least stay on.
