Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm?

The 2610 takes both Type I or Type II Compact Flash (CF) cards - according to the web site.

Is there going to be an appreciable difference in the refresh rate of on-screen map-redraws/tracking whilst en-route from A-B, by purchasing a faster card such as the Type II?

Obviously the Type II will be more expensive (because of the increased speed) but is an alternative option of getting a Type I with more capacity a better solution?

Perhaps speed is of more use to, say, photographers?!!!

I thought microdrives were the only Type II CF cards/drives ?

I guess you mean faster read/write CF cards (which are Type I) like Sandisks 'Ultra II' then yes and no.
Yes the card will be faster to write to but no this will not make a difference to your map redraws on the GPS as the SP2610 caches the maps.

Pan European made a convincing case (can't remember the details) for not buying faster CF cards - it offered no advantage in the 2610 IIRC - a search may uncover the detail...

Mike:)

Thanks Guys

I had a sneaking suspicion that the Type II were faster but of little value to 2610 users, as you suggest.

Therefore, I'll invest in a bigger CF card.

Thanks
