Slick Rock ride
Don't I need a chain driven vehicle for that?
Not sure how I'd fit pedals to a shaftie, plus a GS is a big lump to pedal, oh and my lycra is in the wash.
Is that enough excuses?

you are a lucky Chap being in Moab, it is one of the most lovely places on earth, I was on a Harley when I was last there back in 97, it was not the ideal vehicle on those dirt roads but it did not tip over. The ride north along the Colorado is an amazing road. Sorry I can not be there but I am off to Beaujolais, where the wine might be cheaper than Utah!

for Moab. One of my all time favourite places... I was there about this time last year but in a Mustang... so no dirt roads unfortunately... I guess you're enjoying all that Canyonlands and Arches have to offer... lucky man... ENJOY.

Try to get up the LIONS BACK go to the KTM ADV bike link on their site and you will see them going up a slick rock spin that has rubbwer all the way to the top. Great ride. Did it once in a 4x4 and almost shit myself.
Went to Moab, bloody horrible. Anything over 20c and I'm toast. Managed to get heat stroke in Wales in March once! Good airconed pool hall there though and you can drink and drink and drink and not get hammered.

Did the Hummer sunst trip. They might be crap on the road but they can climb and descend almost vertically. As a verigo sufferer I picked the least extreme sounding trip.

If you think riding a rock fin is bad in daylight, try it, when just for a laugh, the driver does it in the dark and turns all the lights out!
That was as extreme as I'd want to go.
I did bury the front wheel of the GS in sand up near the Needles when pursuing a deer. Heavy buggers GS's.
The heat isn't as bad as New Mexico where I left a 111 degree day for the more reasonable 98.
Phew what a scorcher!
Rodeo has just arrived in town, so I'll have to leave you all for now, I've cattle poking to watch! (Is it legal?)

How was Bryce? I loved it , better than GC , Arches , Capitol Reef and Zion IMHO.
Moab is fab but even though you are visiting most of my favourite places the thing I envy most is that you get to go home to WA.

So did you go to the rodeo...? Yes, my wife and I were there. I thought the guy proposing to his girlfriend was a bit cheesy and also a bit risky unless they'd rehearsed it first.Lamble said:

Drive the Moki Dugway and the Burr trail in that when it's expressly forbidden to take the vehicle off paved roads......would I do such a thing?

Saved Bryce for the return trip up from Albuquerque and went down to White Sands, Alpine, Silver City around the Arizona, New Mexico border and of course took in 4 Corners.Rushy said:

I went on the hummer trip instead, at night...oooerrr it were a bit steep.
I thought hummers were heaps of yank junk, now I only think that about them on the road. Off road they'd give a Land Rover a good test.
I'd already been to a rodeo in Oklahoma, a small town affair where the whole town turned out and all the local ranches submitted teams. A bit like Sunday League soccer, only with cow poo on the pitch and big hats.
