I have a problem with my phoneđŸ€”
Always been like it, but it causes a problem if I want to download certain apps. It says " Not available in your Country" Location is on, everything else works fine. Any idea what might be causing this oh Knowledgeable people? đŸ€”

If you're in the UK, it'll be the government. We can't be trusted to make a decision on what we want to see or read.

is this using the phone's data plan or domestic wifi? If using wifi, try it on the data plan

any VPN in between you and the WWW?

It happens on mobile data or WiFi.
Weird also because when I'm on the IOM, Vodafone repeatedly thinks I'm in Guernsey and charges me extra. đŸ€”

If it’s an iPhone it may be because of the “hide my ip” function that rotates the ip address.

On the website you are trying to access, do the following:

In the address bar, press the little telly above the 2 bars; a menu appears.

In that menu, press the 3 dots bottom right
Press “show my ip”. A message appears saying something like “allow website (whatever it is) to temporarily see my ip.

If the site then works then that’s the issue.

The Isle of Man this is because both Isle of Man and Guernsey use the same mobile service provider.

It's an Huawei.. Probably thinks I'm in China. I will try your advice. Thanks.

Yes, worth a go- I don’t know if the Android phones do the same ip address thing, but that process always works for me if I get a “wrong country” message on my iPhone

According to Google this could also be the reason you may be paying extra on your Vodafone account -
The Isle of Man has local providers (Manx Telecom and Sure). If your phone accidentally picks a different network, you may be improperly charged. Manually selecting the network is highly advised.

I had this once and never solved (i bought a new phone)

I went to Mexico on holiday and when i go back my phone thought i was still in Mexico?
App store was Mexican the news was Mexican
I tried all sorts.

I factory reset it and gave it the wife lol
Phone works fine for her though 🙄

I bought a European eSIM, provided by a Spanish company. Even after I had finished the subscription and deleted the eSIM, some ‘Spanish hangover’ remained. A full shutdown (but not a full wiping / reset) cured it.

A few years ago I had exactly the same happen when flying from Gatwick to the Isle of Man for the TT.I had to ring them up and spent ages trying to convince them that I have never been to Guernsey........"well,our systems say you have been there so it must be right" eventually I got the charges taken off my account. This happened two or three times. It all stopped when I changed my plan to one that included both places for roaming.

I got my additional charges reimbursed the first time. Second I got a voucher.... Which means you then have to spend more money to use it🙄 But like you say. Trying to get this problem over to a chat bot isn't easy.
See what happens next month when I'm over there
