That's a bit of a lie actually, what I really meant to say is that some daft woman driver modified it for me this morning. The tw*t reversed into me when she decided there wasn't quite enough room to turn right and so she just backed right up into me as I sat there sounding my horn, shouting at the top of my voice. The rest of fu**in' Ashford heard me, but her and her dosey husband didn't. Ar*e!! Down I went, bike on top of me. Luckily for me, the only thing damaged was the beak extender which is split, saved the front of the bike and the BWM cylinder guards did exactly what it says on the tin.
Deep joy. Anyway, could have been worse, but I've never felt so helpless, watching this moron coming straight at me and nothing I could do other than shout and sound the somewhat feeble horn. Still, great ride other than that.

I know the feeling..

I have a similar incident,, on the M56 motorway.. white van man (ar**hole)

i then went and got a new stebble horn fitted..

MUUUUCH louder and Much sharper than standard horn.. on the best £10 - £15 you can spend on a GS.. do it..

That sounds like a good idea (no pun intended), where can I get one of these horns?

John

Car shops..

Do a search for
Stebble Magnum and Nautilus on the forums.. several links on how to fitt them and in there are some suppliers. ( Car part suppliers.)

I cheated and had the nice folks at Blue Bell Crewe fit mine for me.. poor mechanic was almost defened.. as he didnt realise how loud it was and pressed the button whilst looking at the wiring to check all was ok..

OUCH!..

Dosey cow!! Glad you're still in one piece though John.
Did you sort your boots out?
Steve

Some twat did the same to me in my car during sale time after Xmas in a car park in Guildford. The idiot just reversed straight back into the side of my car, from quite a way away, without looking behind him at all. I was hooting like mad and he just went straight into me. Dinged the door (but not as badly as I thought given the impact).

I got out of the car and gave him the 3rd degree, got his name & address & reg plate. Next day I got a quote for the damage, wrote him a letter with the quote enclosed, and requested a cheque payable to the accident repair place.

2 days later, I got a cheque from him for the full amount. No insurance hassle. Result!

Expecting the same result here Tobers, spoke to this guy tonite, told him the cost of the new beak extender plus postage and he is sending a cheque. His wife, believe it or not, said she thought she wasn't at fault :spitfire

Yeh steve, got the Hein Gericke boots, spot on mate.

Me too - must be a local/seasonal thing.

Twin Fiamm airhorns stop the feckers........ :D

As fitted to all my GS`s.

complete bollox...! At least it wasn't too bad John...I had the magnum horn fitted as well for blasting at dozy car drivers - bought from Nippy Norm.

Amazing isn't it- mate of mine had ridden 10's of 1000's of miles on and off-road inc many in the rough desert stuff in Africa. Never a serious injury. But whilst following a delivery van in Castleford and slowing and stopping behind the van because the van had slowed and stopped too he suddenly found the van reversing hard at him - hit the bike pushed him and passenger and bike under the rear of the van - pillion miraculously ok but riders right leg was mangled - pins/plates/crutches/ permament limp bla bla bla. And he was stationary at the time! Van driver said he thought he'd shot past the house he wanted and was reversing to read house numbers!!! What the.... :eek

Sorry JDH - got carried away - forgot to say I'm pleased you're OK and damage is minimal. Horn is a good idea but not a guarantee against w**kers like this.

Stebble Nautilus on a 2009 GS1200

Having had a stebble nautilus fitted to a former bike and enjoyed waking a few cagers up when needed I want to fit the horn to my 09 GS 1200 but Im at a loss as to where to fit it. The magnum is a smaller beast so would be easier to fit but has anyone fitted a Nautilus to a 09 gs?:blast
